UK announces new military support package for Ukraine featuring drones and air defence systems

The UK Ministry of Defence (MoD) has announced its intention to provide Ukraine with modern drones and air defence systems worth £60 million (almost €70 million).

Quote: "A new £60 million package of military support from the UK-administered International Fund for Ukraine will provide advanced new surveillance drones to support Ukraine’s Armed Forces.

It will also include £20 million to provide air defence systems to help keep Ukraine's skies safe."

Background: The UK and Latvia lead the international drone coalition set up by the Ukraine Defence Contact Group, also known as the Ramstein group.

During a visit to Kyiv in January, Prime Minister Rishi Sunak announced that London would allocate £200 million to manufacture various types of drones for the Ukrainian military.
