US President Donald Trump and Kremlin leader Vladimir Putin will meet in the city of Anchorage, Alaska.

Details: Leavitt said that the talks between Trump and Putin, scheduled for Friday 15 August, will take place in Anchorage, the largest city in Alaska.
Quote: "President Trump is determined to try and end this war and stop the killing. As the president has said over and over again, his strong preference will always be for peace and partnership whenever those outcomes can be achieved."
Background:
- Trump said during a press conference that he expects his meeting with Putin to be "constructive", though he did not rule out that the outcome might be negative.
- Trump also said he was not happy about President Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s argument that Ukraine’s Constitution would need to be amended in order for territory to be exchanged as part of a potential peace deal.
- In turn, Zelenskyy said that the upcoming meeting between Trump and Putin is essential for their bilateral dialogue, although no decisions concerning Ukraine can be made without a Ukrainian representative
