Details: Kross stated that the nomination is in recognition of Ukrainska Pravda's contribution to democratic transformation in Ukraine and its defence of freedom of speech, which he called "the cornerstone of the democratic world".
He emphasised that Ukrainska Pravda has been a driving force in Ukraine's democratic changes, exposing corruption, reporting human rights violations, documenting Russian war crimes, and serving as one of the key global sources of truth about Ukraine.
Kross also remembered the Ukrainska Pravda journalists who "have given their lives for the right to tell the truth": Georgiy Gongadze, who founded the media outlet, Pavlo Sheremet, and Viktoriia Roshchyna, who was killed in Russian captivity in 2024.
Quote: "I have officially submitted the nomination of Ukrainska Pravda for the Nobel Peace Prize. It is recognition of its contribution to Ukraine's democratic transformation and to the defence of freedom of speech – which is the cornerstone of the democratic world.
Their sacrifice is a stark reminder that freedom of speech rests upon the blood and courage of those who are not afraid to go all the way."
Details: The MP added that for Estonia – a country that knows the cost of freedom very well – this nomination is "an expression of solidarity with the Ukrainian people and of deep respect for the journalists who continue their work where truth itself is a weapon".
