Two sources familiar with the matter said that restarting negotiations has become a priority for Trump again in recent weeks, soon after the United States helped broker a ceasefire in Gaza.

Trump has made it clear that he wants to expedite the timeline for ending the war in Ukraine. According to the two sources, some US officials have said that the administration wants Russia and Ukraine to reach an agreement by the end of the year.

As the war approaches its fourth year, the US president's frustration is growing. He frequently boasts of his deal-making abilities and believes he has not received sufficient recognition for other recent diplomatic successes, the sources note.

Earlier, the Financial Times reported, citing sources, that the US expects Kyiv to agree to the deal by 27 November.
