Anti-drone rounds against Russian FPV and Mavic drones approved for military use in Ukrainian forces

Ukraine's defence forces have approved the use of upgraded Horoshok anti-drone rounds in two standard calibres: 5.56×45 mm and 5.45×39 mm.

Details: The ministry explained that the anti-drone rounds make it possible to destroy Russian FPV drones and Mavic-type UAVs using standard small arms. As a result, the ministry says particular attention is being paid to scaling up their production.
"Several types of such rounds from different manufacturers have already been approved for use by the defence forces. Among them are the upgraded Horoshok rounds…," the statement said.
The Ministry of Defence noted that the manufacturer of the Horoshok rounds plans to increase production to 400,000 rounds per month.
"They allow enemy drones to be engaged at distances of up to 50 and 60 metres respectively. A special warhead increases the likelihood of hitting the target, and most importantly, they can simply be loaded into a standard magazine of a service rifle and used immediately against a drone," the ministry said.
Background:
- In late November, Defence Minister Denys Shmyhal stated that the ministry had codified anti-drone rounds from several domestic manufacturers and that the products are ready for serial production.
- Additionally, to counter Russian FPV drones, the defence forces also use the Ptashka net gun. The manufacturer has already released video footage showing its combat use.
