Ukraine's chief negotiator announces new meeting with US side on Sunday

A meeting between the Ukrainian and US delegations will take place in the United States on 21 December.

Details: Umierov added that the parties are working "constructively and substantively". "We are counting on further progress and practical results," he concluded.

Background:

• On 19 December, Umierov said that a meeting between the Ukrainian negotiating delegation and US and European partners had taken place in the United States.
• Politico reported earlier that Kremlin envoy Kirill Dmitriev is set to visit Miami on 20-21 December for talks with US Special Envoy Steve Witkoff and Trump's son-in-law Jared Kushner regarding the US "peace plan".
• On Thursday, US President Donald Trump said he believes that negotiations to end the war in Ukraine were "getting close to something".
