Details: Peskov added that in addition to Putin's aide Vladimir Medinsky, the Russian delegation at the Geneva talks will include Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Galuzin and Igor Kostyukov, head of Russian military intelligence (GRU). He emphasised that Medinsky remains the head of the Russian delegation.

"Why didn't he [Medinsky] take part in the previous two rounds [in Abu Dhabi – ed.]? Because there they were talking about security issues, issues that directly concerned the military. Therefore our group was headed by Kostyukov, and the group consisted of military [representatives]," the Kremlin spokesman explained.

Peskov said Vladimir Putin is in "constant contact with the negotiators", who received "detailed instructions" from him on the eve of their departure.
