Israeli forces report large-scale wave of strikes on Tehran

The Israel Defence Forces (IDF) said on the night of 5-6 March that it had launched a large-scale attack on infrastructure belonging to what it described as the "Iranian terror regime" in Tehran.

Details: Eyal Zamir, Chief of the General Staff of Israel, also said that Israel is moving to the next phase of its operation against Iran.

Background:
- On 28 February, the US and Israel launched a large-scale military campaign against Iran, conducting hundreds of strikes on the country's strategic facilities.
- During a targeted airstrike on the residence of Iran's Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, 30 bombs were reportedly dropped, killing him along with key members of the country's leadership.
- In response, Tehran launched large-scale strikes using ballistic missiles and kamikaze drones against US bases and the territories of American allies in the Middle East, including Qatar, Bahrain, Kuwait and the United Arab Emirates.
- On 1 March, representatives of Hezbollah publicly expressed their full solidarity with Iran.
