Details: At the end of a roundtable at the White House on university sports on Friday, Trump said he would take one or two questions and gave the floor to Fox News correspondent Peter Doocy.
Doocy asked Trump about reports by The Washington Post and Fox News that Russia is providing intelligence to Iran to help it strike American targets.
Trump interrupted the journalist before he finished the question and joked that possible Russian assistance to Iran was an "easy problem compared to what we are doing here", referring to the discussion about potential changes to university sports.
Later, Trump criticised the correspondent for mentioning the war against Iran.
Quote: "But can I be honest? I have a lot of respect for you. You've always been very nice to me. What a stupid question that is to be asked at this time. We're talking about something else."
A few minutes later, Trump again pointed at Doocy and said that he would give him another chance because the previous question had not been a good one. When the journalist asked whether he could raise a topic unrelated to university sports, Trump replied that he could not.
Background:
- The Washington Post earlier reported that Russia is providing Iran with information about targets for attacks on US troops in the Middle East.
- US Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth said he is not concerned that Iran is receiving intelligence from Russia to strike American military positions.
