Zelenskyy on "Easter truce": We will act accordingly

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has said Ukraine will take "symmetrical steps" in response to the "Easter truce" announced by Russian leader Vladimir Putin. Orthodox Easter will be celebrated on Sunday 12 April.

Previously: The Kremlin announced that Putin had declared an "Easter truce" lasting one and a half days.
Background:
- On 30 March, Zelenskyy stated that Ukraine was willing to agree to a ceasefire during the Easter holidays and to an energy ceasefire.
- However, Putin's spokesman Dmitry Peskov indicated that the Kremlin would not support Zelenskyy's proposal for an Easter ceasefire, citing its lack of "clear formulation".
- In 2025, Putin declared a three-day Easter truce, purportedly halting all hostilities in Ukraine from the evening of 19 April until midnight on 21 April.
- On 19 April, however, Russia carried out a drone attack on Ukraine.
