Ukraine's ambassador to EU: US remains an ally despite rising tensions
The United States remains an ally despite rising tensions between Kyiv and Washington in recent months, Ukraine's EU Ambassador Vsevolod Chentsov has said.

Details: Throughout his speech, Chentsov maintained a cautious stance, stressing that Ukraine "still rely[ies] on US help on air defence, and it's critical for us".
"Indeed, America is an ally for Ukraine," he said.
At the same time, Chentsov noted stronger cooperation with European partners and the expansion of Ukraine's own capabilities in the field of unmanned aerial vehicles.
"We are in a very difficult situation," he said, adding that Kyiv "cannot reject" support from any ally.
Chentsov also pointed to the role of US President Donald Trump in "peace efforts" and stressed that Ukraine continues to rely on US support, even as ties with Europe deepen.
Background:
- Recently, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said he had tried to draw US attention to the fact that Russia is assisting Iran in the war, but this proved futile due to Washington's position.
- According to the president, the United States ignored convincing evidence that Russia is helping Iran attack American bases in the Middle East, as Washington "trusts" Russian leader Vladimir Putin.
- Following this, US Vice President JD Vance said in recent days that he considers negotiations between Ukraine and Russia over "a few square kilometres" to be inappropriate.
- Commenting on these remarks, Zelenskyy said that the US vice president is not involved in peace negotiations.
