Four people, including a child, have been killed and 54 injured in Russian strikes on the city of Kyiv on the night of 15-16 April. Damage has been recorded in the Podilskyi, Obolonskyi, Shevchenkivskyi and Desnianskyi districts.

Update: The State Emergency Service initially reported five fatalities. However, Klitschko later stated that four people had been killed in the Russian attack on the capital, including a 12-year-old boy, with 45 residents injured.

Twenty-six individuals were admitted to hospital, while the rest were treated at the scenes or as outpatients, including two children.

The Kyiv City Prosecutor's Office later reported that the number of those injured had increased to 54.

"Two fatalities have been recorded in the Podilskyi district, including a 12-year-old child and a woman. Two people have been killed in the Obolonskyi district; they were security guards at a car showroom. Three police officers, four medical workers and two foreign nationals have been injured," the statement said.

Details: According to the SES, an attack in the Obolonskyi district caused parked cars to catch fire. A warehouse building, a tyre repair business and a shop were damaged. Four ambulance workers and two police officers who had arrived at the scene were injured.

A strike on an open area in the Podilskyi district caused damage to nearby residential buildings. A woman and a child were killed at this location, and three people were cut by flying glass.

The SES did not specify where the fifth person had been killed.

Petrov said in a comment to Ukrainska Pravda that information on the precise death toll is still being confirmed.

Another strike in the Podilskyi district hit an area in front of residential buildings, damaging facades and blocking the entrances to some of them. Three people were injured there.

The facades of two hotels and nearby buildings were damaged at another location in the same district. Two people were injured.

A single-storey house was destroyed at another address. Two people, including a child, were rescued from under the rubble.

A strike hit the fifth floor of a 16-storey residential building in a separate incident. Rescue workers evacuated 10 people. No fire broke out and no injuries were reported.

A fire broke out in a two-storey residential building in the Desnianskyi district.

Strikes were recorded on a children's playground and near a residential building in the Shevchenkivskyi district.

Background: Russia attacked Ukraine with drones and missiles on the night of 15-16 April. Explosions were heard in Kyiv and fires broke out there. Early reports said that a child and a woman had been killed and several people had been injured, including medics who had responded to an emergency call.
