Details: Sybiha discussed the issue with his counterparts from Austria, Iceland and Luxembourg on the sidelines of the Antalya Diplomacy Forum in Türkiye.
All parties noted new opportunities to strengthen Europe following the elections in Hungary.
Quote from Sybiha: "We have discussed the urgent need to unblock critically important decisions: €90 billion, the 20th sanctions package and the opening of six negotiating clusters. It is time to lift not only the Hormuz blockade but also the Orbán blockade, which will benefit everyone."
Background:
- Hungary's incoming prime minister, Péter Magyar, has indicated that he will not block the €90bn EU loan for Ukraine, as the decision has been made, although he confirmed that Budapest will not participate in it.
- Meanwhile, Magyar said Hungary does not support fast-tracking Ukraine's accession to the EU. He stated that Kyiv must complete the full process of EU accession negotiations, after which Hungary will hold a referendum on the issue.
