Von der Leyen confirms Ukraine will receive €6bn from EU for drones in Q2 2026

The first €6 billion defence package for Ukraine from the €90 billion EU loan will be disbursed this quarter and will focus on Ukrainian-made drones.

Details: Von der Leyen confirmed the EU's intention to disburse the first €6 billion tranche of the €90 billion loan to Ukraine in the second quarter of 2026.

Quote: "In spring we have said that we would deliver on the €90 billion loan for Ukraine, in one way or the other. Now we made good on this promise. We will disperse the first tranche of €45 billion for 2026, still this quarter."

Details: Von der Leyen noted that one-third of the €90 billion EU loan will go to Ukraine's budgetary needs, while two-thirds will be allocated to defence.
