Moldovan PM on Putin decree regarding Transnistria: Russia lacks soldiers

Moldovan Prime Minister Alexandru Munteanu has said the decree signed by Kremlin ruler Vladimir Putin simplifying the procedure for obtaining Russian citizenship for residents of unrecognised Transnistria may be linked to attempts to recruit new soldiers for the war in Ukraine.

Details: Munteanu urged residents of Transnistria "to be cautious and remember that citizenship entails not only benefits but also obligations".
Quote: "A Russian passport is becoming the passport of an aggressor state that is not recognised in the civilised world. I believe the Kremlin's decision is linked to attempts to send as many soldiers to the front as possible, given that recruitment rates have recently declined."
Details: Munteanu added that "citizenship is not only freedom of movement but also clear obligations". In this context, he also referred to taxes and other mandatory payments.
The prime minister said the Moldovan authorities will discuss possible response measures to the decree signed by Putin.
He also did not rule out summoning the Russian ambassador to Moldova's Foreign Ministry.
