Belarus announces start of nuclear weapons combat deployment exercises

Belarus's Ministry of Defence has announced that exercises for units on the combat deployment of nuclear weapons began in the country on 18 May. They are being conducted in coordination with Russian military forces.

Quote: "Exercises for military units on the combat deployment of nuclear weapons and nuclear support have begun. The aim of the exercises is to improve the level of personnel training, verify the readiness of weapons, military and special equipment for task execution, and organise combat deployment from unplanned areas."

Details: Missile forces and aircraft units are involved.

"During the exercises, in coordination with the Russian side, it is planned to practise the delivery of nuclear munitions and their preparation for use," Belarus's Ministry of Defence stated.

It is noted that the military intends to verify readiness to carry out combat deployment tasks from unprepared areas across the entire territory of Belarus, as well as to practise "concealment, movement over significant distances and conducting calculations for the deployment of forces and assets".

Belarus's Ministry of Defence stressed that this is a planned event that "is not directed against third countries and poses no threat to security in the region".
