Ukrainian defence company Vyrii Industries has unveiled the lean flow model it has implemented in its factories to scale up and optimise drone assembly processes. The presentation took place at DOU Day 2026, a Ukrainian tech and defence industry conference.

Quote from Demydenko: "Previously, it would take one person a whole day to assemble 4-6 drones, and we needed to optimise that somehow. Gradually we started breaking the process up into stages across departments, so that each department was performing one step. Now we've moved to a flow assembly system, where all operations are divided up within a line of nine people. The first assembles the frame, the second mounts the motors, the third fixes the wiring, and so on. The result is that every three minutes we get a fully assembled drone."

Details: In addition to improving production efficiency, this approach enables more flexible order handling and rapid switching between different drone configurations. At the end of each production line, a quality control expert carries out a thorough inspection of each unit. This helps errors to be identified early, on the first items produced, rather than after an entire defective batch has been completed.

If a defect is found, the drone is returned to the assembler along with feedback, and the defect is corrected on the spot. This system of rapid feedback and immediate error correction helps train assemblers faster and minimises the number of defective units moving further through production.

At the recruitment area at DOU Day 2026, conference visitors were also able to try out FPV drone production for themselves, completing individual stages of assembly and getting a closer look at the defence tech industry.
