Ukraine air defences intercept 180 out of 209 Russian drones in overnight attack

Russian forces attacked Ukraine with 209 Shahed (some of them jet-powered), Gerbera and Italmas loitering munitions and Parodiya decoy drones on the night of 18-19 May.

Details: Early reports indicated that as of 08:30, Ukrainian air defence forces had destroyed or jammed 180 Shahed, Gerbera and Italmas loitering munitions and Parodiya decoy drones in the country's north, south and east.

Hits by 27 UAVs had been recorded at 15 locations and the fall of downed aerial assets (debris) at five locations.

Aircraft, anti-aircraft missile units, electronic warfare assets, unmanned systems units and mobile fire groups from Ukraine's defence forces have been involved in repelling the attack.

The attack is ongoing, as several Russian drones are still in Ukrainian airspace.
