Zelenskyy meets King of Belgium in Brussels – photo

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy met with King Philippe of Belgium during his visit to Brussels on 18 June and briefed him on the situation at the front and in the war overall.

Quote: "The head of state informed the King about Russian strikes on civilian infrastructure that resulted in damage to the Kyiv Pechersk Lavra. Volodymyr Zelenskyy noted that sanctions against Russia must be stepped up and spoke about diplomatic efforts with partners, as well as the need to strengthen Europe's role in the negotiation process."
Details: Support for Ukraine's European integration and bilateral defence cooperation were also discussed separately.

Zelenskyy also discussed the delivery schedule for the F-16 fighter jets promised to Ukraine with the Belgian prime minister.
Belgian Defence Minister Theo Francken announced on 18 June that Belgium has decided to transfer more fighter jets to the Armed Forces of Ukraine than previously promised.
