Ukrainian air defence downs 79 out of 90 drones used by Russia in attack on Ukraine

Russian forces have attacked Ukraine with 90 drones of various types since the evening of 18 June. Air defence forces have destroyed or jammed 79 UAVs, although some hits have been recorded. The attack is still ongoing.

Quote: "Early reports indicated that as of 08:30, [Ukrainian] air defence forces had destroyed or jammed 79 Shahed, Gerbera, Italmas, Banderol and other types of drones in the country's north, south and east. Hits by nine UAVs have been recorded at eight locations and the fall of downed aerial assets (debris) at eight locations."

Details: The drones were launched from the Russian cities of Bryansk, Oryol and Primorsko-Akhtarsk as well as from Hvardiiske in temporarily occupied Crimea.

Aircraft, anti-aircraft missile units, electronic warfare assets, unmanned systems units and mobile fire groups from Ukraine's defence forces have been involved in repelling the attack.

As of this morning, the attack is ongoing, as several Russian drones are still in the airspace.
