One security worker has been killed and five other employees have been injured in a Russian attack on a mine office belonging to DTEK Group, Ukraine's largest private energy company, in Dnipropetrovsk Oblast.

Details: The strike caused significant damage to the facility. A total of 86 workers were underground when it occurred, as an earlier power outage had prevented them from being brought to the surface.

All the miners were immediately evacuated to the surface. Those injured are receiving the necessary assistance.

The facility's operations have been suspended for now. The company is assessing the extent of the damage and preparing for emergency repair work, which will begin as soon as possible.

Background:

  • On 4 July, a Russian drone hit a rail maintenance vehicle belonging to the state-run railway operator Ukrzaliznytsia (Ukrainian Railways) during repair work in Kharkiv Oblast. Railway workers were not injured.
  • On the evening of 3 July, Russian drones attacked Zaporizhzhia, damaging branch No. 7 of Nova Poshta, Ukraine's largest private delivery company. The strike killed Valerii Hafykin, a 50-year-old driver for the company.
