Three killed in Russian attack on Kyiv Oblast, nearly 500 evacuated in Vyshneve – photos, video

Three people have been killed in the town of Vyshneve, Kyiv Oblast, following Russia's attack on the night of 5-6 July. Nearly 500 residents were evacuated because of the risk of a secondary explosion, while 26 people are now known to have been injured across the region.

Quote from Kalashnyk: "The death toll from the enemy's massive attack on Kyiv Oblast has risen to three.
As of now, 26 people have been reported injured, including two children: a nine-month-old baby and a 12-year-old."
Details: Kalashnyk said 18 people had been taken to hospital, three of whom are in a serious condition.
Another four people received medical treatment at the scene.
He added that 479 residents had been evacuated from Vyshneve, with all emergency and specialist services continuing to work at the sites.

Those injured are receiving all necessary medical and other assistance.

Interior Minister Ihor Klymenko said the evacuation in Vyshneve had been ordered because of the threat of a secondary detonation.

According to Klymenko, more than 500 people were temporarily moved to a safe location until emergency response operations had been completed.

Rescue teams are also inspecting damaged houses to ensure that no people have been overlooked.
Emergency workers added that the most serious situation in Kyiv Oblast remains in the town of Vyshneve. It was there that three people were killed and a further 14 injured as a result of a combined attack. Two State Emergency Service staff members were among those injured.
Background:
- On the night of 5-6 July, Russia launched a massive combined attack on Ukraine using strike drones as well as air-, land- and sea-launched missiles of various types. Ukrainian air defences downed 363 of the 419 aerial targets launched. However, 29 ballistic missiles and 18 attack drones struck targets at 34 locations across the country.
- The main strike was directed at Kyiv. As of 10:00, 11 people had been confirmed dead, while nearly 60 others had been injured.
