The State Emergency Service (SES) said 21 injured people are currently being treated in hospital.

Ruban told Ukrainska Pravda that all of the people were killed in the Bucha district as a result of the Russian strike on Vyshneve, including in the town of Vyshneve itself and the village of Petropavlivska Borshchahivka.

She also said that the risk of secondary explosions in Vyshneve has now passed.

Rescue workers evacuated more than 600 people from Vyshneve.

Among them were 117 people who had taken shelter in a bomb shelter that ended up at the epicentre of the explosion during the air attack.

After bomb disposal experts had secured the area, SES personnel transported the evacuees by bus to a designated assembly point.

Emergency workers are continuing to inspect every residential building and outbuilding to ensure that no injured people or fatalities remain trapped inside damaged structures.

Meanwhile, bomb disposal teams are examining every property for unexploded ordnance.

Background:

  • Three people were killed in the town of Vyshneve, Kyiv Oblast, during Russia's overnight attack on 6 July. Nearly 500 residents were evacuated because of the risk of a secondary explosion, while 26 people were injured across the region.
  • Rescue workers added that the most critical situation in Kyiv Oblast remains in Vyshneve, where the combined Russian attack killed three people and injured 14 others. Among the injured are two personnel from Ukraine's State Emergency Service.
  • On the night of 5-6 July, Russia launched a massive combined attack on Ukraine using strike drones as well as air-, land- and sea-launched missiles of various types. Ukrainian air defences downed 363 of the 419 aerial targets launched. However, 29 ballistic missiles and 18 attack drones struck targets at 34 locations across the country.
  • The main strike was directed at Kyiv. As of now, 12 people have been confirmed dead.
