Ukrainian drones reach last major Russian refinery untouched in 2026

Deep Strike units from Ukraine's Special Operations Forces (SOF) successfully struck Gazprom Neftekhim Salavat, one of Russia's largest oil refining and petrochemical complexes, located in Bashkortostan, on the night of 13-14 July.

Details: The mission was carried out in cooperation with the resistance movement Chornaya Iskra (Black Spark), operating on Russian territory.

The special forces said their drones successfully reached their targets. Early reports indicate that the critical AVT-6 primary oil distillation unit and other production facilities at the plant were hit.

SOF drones travelled around 1,500 kilometres to reach the facility.

Gazprom Neftekhim Salavat was the last major petrol producer not yet hit by strikes in 2026.

Background:

  • On 18 September 2025, long-range drones of the Security Service of Ukraine (SSU) struck the Gazprom Neftekhim Salavat petrochemical complex in Russia's Bashkortostan, covering a distance of 1,400 kilometres. It was reported that drones hit the ELOU-AVT-4 unit, the heart of the plant.
  • On 24 September 2025, drones operated by the SSU struck Gazprom Neftekhim Salavat again.
