Drones attack military airbase in Russia's Engels – social media

Explosions were reported in the Russian cities of Saratov and Engels on the night of 15-16 July during a drone attack. UAVs struck a military airbase.

Details: According to reports on social media, residents of Saratov and Engels said they had heard numerous explosions and seen a large number of drones.

Videos circulating on social media captured the sound of drones flying overhead and explosions, including in Engels.

Telegram channels also said, citing early reports, that the Engels airbase has come under attack.

Update: After carrying out an OSINT analysis, Astra said later that a fire has broken out at the Engels military airfield in Russia's Saratov Oblast following the drone attack.

Residents of Saratov Oblast reported hearing numerous explosions during the night of 15-16 July and claimed that the Engels military airbase has been targeted.

Astra said it has carried out an analysis of footage of the fire released by the Telegram channel Exilenova+ which corroborates those claims.
