"During these talks, we will of course return to the main international issues – our support for Ukraine, peace and security in Europe, as well as the situation in the Middle East," Macron stated.

Macron referred to the military parade held on 14 July in Paris.

"It was very important to see the president of Ukraine on the Champs-Élysées together with the Coalition of the Willing, as well as servicemembers of this coalition marching alongside our troops," Macron said.

Such a display of unity, he said, was evidence of the formation of a "Europe of strength" and a symbol of the continent's strategic awakening.

Macron added that Paris and Berlin also intend to give new impetus to the bilateral and European security and defence agenda.

"When it comes to extended deterrence, early warning, deep strikes and joint capabilities, we want to give new momentum," the French leader explained.

France and Germany also plan to deepen cooperation in space, quantum technologies, artificial intelligence and energy, Macron noted.

Background: Germany and France on 16 July implemented for the first time in practice the agreement on nuclear deterrence cooperation reached in March, conducting joint air force exercises.
