Romania confirms that one of two drones shot down by fighter jets was a Shahed

Romania has officially confirmed that a drone shot down near Buzău on 24 July was a Shahed-type unmanned aerial vehicle.

Details: The prosecutor's office has stated that the drone, which was downed near Padina, a village in Buzău County, was a Shahed-type UAV – a type of drone used by Russia.

Shortly after it was shot down, Romanian experts recovered pieces of both the drone and the interceptor missile and sent them to be examined in detail.

A criminal investigation has been opened with respect to a flight within a restricted area.

The Romanian Defence Ministry said the drone debris was found in Buzău County, while a crater made by another missile and missile wreckage were discovered in neighbouring Brăila County. No one was injured in the incident, and no damage was caused.
