Ammunition detonates at training ground in Khmelnytskyi, four soldiers injured

The State Bureau of Investigation (SBI) is establishing the circumstances of an emergency incident in Khmelnytskyi, where a criminal case has been opened following the detonation of ammunition at a military training ground.

Details: Four servicemen were injured as a result of the incident.
The explosion occurred at around 11:55 on 31 July. According to early reports, an uncontrolled detonation of ammunition took place.
The four injured servicemen have been hospitalised. The severity of their injuries is being established.
According to the Prosecutor General's Office, contact has also been lost with several servicemen who were at the scene. Information regarding their whereabouts is being established.
Due to the detonation, investigators are currently unable to safely examine the scene. However, SBI officers are already questioning the command and personnel of the military unit and carrying out other urgent investigative actions.
The preliminary legal qualification is violation of rules for handling weapons and hazardous substances or objects, which caused injuries to several individuals (Article 414.2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine). The SBI says it will provide a legal assessment of the actions of those responsible.
