Consumers without electricity in six Ukrainian oblasts due to Russian strikes

Some consumers in six oblasts of Ukraine are temporarily without electricity as of the morning of 5 August due to combat operations and Russian strikes on energy facilities.

Details: Consumers in Donetsk, Mykolaiv, Sumy, Kharkiv, Kyiv and Chernihiv oblasts are temporarily without electricity. Energy workers are carrying out repairs wherever the security situation permits.

A further 78 settlements in Zhytomyr, Kyiv, and Chernihiv oblasts remain without electricity due to adverse weather conditions. Repair crews are working to bring the power supply back.

No electricity consumption restrictions are currently forecast for 5 August.

Ukrainians are urged to use electricity sparingly throughout the day where possible in order to reduce the load on the energy system.

Background: On 4 August, Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant again lost external power supply, as a result of which the plant operated on diesel generators – the backup power source for ensuring nuclear and radiation safety – for approximately one hour.
