Russia's largest petrochemical complex halts operations after drone attack – Reuters

Russia's ZapSibNeftekhim petrochemical complex in the town of Tobolsk in Tyumen Oblast, western Siberia, has suspended operations following a drone attack.

Details: One of the Reuters sources said the facility had halted operations indefinitely "while the ​extent of the damage and its consequences ⁠are being assessed".

Tyumen Oblast Governor Aleksandr Moör said on Monday 10 August that a drone attack had caused a fire at an industrial facility in the oblast, but did not specify which facility was affected.

The company Sibur, which owns the complex, declined to comment to Reuters.

On 11 August, no volumes of liquefied gas for shipment from the Tobolsk loading terminal were offered for sale on the St Petersburg International Mercantile Exchange (SPIMEX). Around 4,000 metric tonnes of technical-grade propane-butane mixture were regularly sold from this facility each day.

According to industry sources, ZapSibNeftekhim in Tobolsk produces around 6 million tonnes of feedstock a year, accounting for approximately 40% of Russia's total production of technical-grade butane-propane mixture.
