Ukrainian forces hit 4 warships in Novorossiysk, including Kalibr carriers

Units of Ukraine's defence forces struck a naval base in the city of Novorossiysk, in Russia's Krasnodar Krai, damaging four Russian warships to varying degrees on the night of 11-12 August.

Details: The General Staff said early reports indicate that four Russian warships sustained varying degrees of damage: two Project 11356 frigates, the Admiral Makarov and the Admiral Essen, a Project 21631 Buyan-M small missile ship and the Project 22160 patrol ship Vasily Bykov.

The SSU clarified that the Admiral Essen and Admiral Makarov frigates are Kalibr missile carriers.

The following targets were also hit: a 30N6E radar, which is part of an S-300 surface-to-air missile system; a mobile fire team on pier No 2 at the port of Novorossiysk; the tunnel portal of the Grushovaya oil depot leading to the Sheskharis terminal; and infrastructure at piers No 3, No 6 and No 7.

Background: Earlier, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy reported that Ukraine had struck the Russian naval base in Novorossiysk with domestically-made Palianytsia drones and Neptun missiles.
