Details: Kellogg visited Odesa Commercial Sea Port together with First Deputy Minister Serhii Derkach.
The delegation inspected the aftermath of Russian attacks on port infrastructure. The meeting covered shipping security, the operation of the Ukrainian maritime corridor and the resilience of export logistics.
Quote from Derkach: "It is important for us that our American partners can directly see the conditions in which Ukrainian ports operate today. Despite [regular Russian attacks], we continue to ensure the operation of the maritime corridor. Our task is to work together with our partners to strengthen the protection of ports, support safe navigation and ensure the resilience of Ukrainian logistics."
More details: A separate part of the meeting focused on investment and the involvement of American business in Ukraine's recovery. The discussion covered specific public-private partnership projects in ports, road and rail infrastructure, as well as opportunities offered by the US-Ukraine Reconstruction Investment Fund to attract investment into transport and logistics.
Background:
- Keith Kellogg, commenting earlier on Kyiv's successful long-range strikes on Russian oil infrastructure, said that for the first time since 2023, Ukrainians had begun gaining the upper hand over the Russians in the war.
- Kellogg served as a special envoy until the end of last year. His decision to resign was reportedly linked to his frustration with how his colleagues in the Trump administration were falling for Russia's tricks.
