Due to the threat of a drone strike, the train was stopped in advance and passengers were evacuated. The majority, along with the train crew, were at a safe distance from the railway infrastructure. However, some people remained near the train. This had fatal consequences: a female passenger was killed, and four people were injured in the strike."

Details: Kalashnyk stressed that it is essential to strictly follow the instructions of railway workers during evacuations and under no circumstances remain near rolling stock due to the threat of repeat strikes.

"Today, Russia attacked this electric-powered train for a second time while rescue workers were operating at the scene. Fortunately, there were no casualties," he added.

On 23 August, when Ukraine marks National Flag Day, Russian forces have struck railway infrastructure five times so far.

Meanwhile, Lozova Mayor Serhii Zelenskyi told Suspilne Kharkiv that another woman, 34, has died in hospital from injuries sustained in the strike. In addition, five more people were injured, including a child.

The woman suffered burns to 90% of her body. She was the mother of an 11-year-old girl, who also sustained burns.

"Her daughter has been stabilised, but she is in a serious condition. Medical workers will determine what comes next. We are waiting for a burns intensive care team from Kharkiv. We are performing operations on two more people here, and two people in a serious condition have been transferred to Kharkiv," the mayor said.

Background: In Odesa Oblast, a jet-powered Shahed drone struck the locomotive of a passenger train. The train had also been stopped in advance, and railway workers evacuated the passengers. There were 593 people on board, including 15 children. There were no casualties. After the first strike, Russian forces attacked the locomotive again. All passengers have since been safely transported to Odesa by bus with the assistance of Odesa Oblast Military Administration and the State Emergency Service, Kalashnyk said.
