Air defence, sanctions and multinational forces: what Coalition of the Willing agreed on in Kyiv
Leaders of the Coalition of the Willing have said after their meeting in Kyiv that they have agreed to step up military support for Ukraine, boost its air defence capabilities, impose further sanctions on Russia and prepare multinational forces.

Details: The statement says the leaders condemn Russia's systematic and intensifying attacks on Ukrainian cities, critical infrastructure, civilian facilities and cultural heritage sites, which have recently caused the highest civilian casualties since the beginning of the full-scale war.
The leaders stressed that Ukraine has an unequivocal right to defend itself in the war of aggression launched against it by Russia and that threats from Moscow will not deter them from supporting Ukraine.
"They expressed their determination to increase military support to Ukraine, strengthen its air defence as a matter of urgent priority, enhance cooperation with its defence industry, and share relevant technologies, including through the Anti-Ballistic Missile Coalition," the statement said.
They also agreed to step up sanctions against Russia's military-industrial complex and those supporting its operations, to provide immediate energy support for Ukraine to prepare for the coming winter. They stressed the need to support Ukraine's economic resilience amid Russia's attempts to block exports through Black Sea ports.
The leaders agreed to continue efforts to restrict Russia's financial resources for waging the war through sanctions and measures to combat sanctions circumvention, including action against Russia's shadow fleet.
According to their estimates, joint measures in this area have prevented Russia from earning around US$495 billion throughout the full-scale war.
They welcomed the US Senate's decision on steps to increase economic pressure on Russia and committed to working closely with the United States in the near future on coordinated measures.
Quote: "The leaders commended President Zelenskyy's continued readiness to enter into meaningful peace talks, in order to bring about a comprehensive, just and lasting peace, and reiterated their call for Russia to agree to a full, immediate and unconditional ceasefire starting from the line of contact.
The Coalition would continue to prepare the Multinational-Force Ukraine to deploy once a credible cessation of hostilities was in place, as part of a wider set of robust politically and legally binding security guarantees to ensure Ukraine's future security and prosperity once a ceasefire enters into force."
