Latvian foreign minister: Russia wants to starve the world

Latvian Foreign Minister Baiba Braže has said that Russia's attacks on Ukraine's grain infrastructure are an attempt to starve the world.

Details: Braže was commenting on a post by her Ukrainian counterpart Andrii Sybiha in which he described the aftermath of Russian airstrikes on Ukraine on the night of 26-27 August.

Quote from Braže: "Russia wants to starve the world. Attacks on grain infrastructure, ports, and maritime routes harm ~400 million people globally, including in some of the most vulnerable countries."

Background:

• Sybiha has called on Kyiv's partners to provide additional support packages ahead of winter and take immediate action to address the consequences of Russian attacks on Ukraine's grain exports.
• On the night of 26-27 August, five drones entered Moldova's airspace during the Russian attack on Ukraine.
