Details: Ukraine, France, Germany and the UK will spend the next few weeks preparing the terms they will take to further negotiations with Russia.

A source in French President Emmanuel Macron's administration spoke about the results of the visit to Kyiv by Emmanuel Bonne, Macron's security adviser, and his participation in talks with US envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner on 6 September.

Bonne said that his trip to Ukraine provided an opportunity both to receive a report from the Americans on their conversation with Russian leader Vladimir Putin and to coordinate further actions.

Witkoff and Kushner essentially said that after Russia's State Duma elections, Russia would allegedly become more willing to negotiate, and that in this context preparations should be made for a fresh start to the negotiations.

During a joint discussion with the national security advisers of France, Germany and the UK – Emmanuel Bonne, Günter Sautter and Jonathan Powell – on 6 September, US negotiators Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner did not specify the parameters of the possible negotiations that Russia had agreed to.

Meanwhile, the Europeans, in coordination with Ukraine, set out their list of demands, including security guarantees, Ukrainian territories, sanctions and other issues.

The national security advisers of France, the UK and Germany agreed to remain in contact over the coming weeks and work together with the Ukrainian side to propose clear terms for negotiations that would make it possible to achieve a strong and lasting peace for Ukraine.
