Checkpoint on border with Moldova resumes operations after Russian attack

The Starokozache international border crossing on the border with Moldova has resumed the passage of people and vehicles.

Details: Ukrainian border guards informed the Moldovan side.

Border guards, the State Emergency Service, the National Police, the Customs Service and the Service for Recovery and Development of Infrastructure in Odesa Oblast jointly worked to deal with the aftermath of the attack and resume the facility's operations as quickly as possible.

The crossing's operation will help avoid increased traffic and congestion at other border crossings with Moldova. The security measures for people crossing the border will continue to be adjusted depending on attempts by Russian forces to attack border infrastructure, the State Border Guard Service said.

Background:

On the night of 8-9 September, Russian forces attacked the Starokozache border crossing, killing two people. The crossing was temporarily closed.
Moldova's Foreign Ministry reported that a citizen of Moldova was also among those injured in the Russian strike on the Starokozache border crossing.
