NATO fighter jets destroyed a drone that entered Lithuanian airspace on the night of 14-15 September.

Quote from Nausėda: "A drone that just entered Lithuanian airspace was destroyed by NATO fighter jets. I thank Allied personnel for their swift response."

Details: Nausėda said that this level of readiness is vital for the region amid Russia's escalating aggression against Ukraine.

Quote from Nausėda: "Together with our NATO Allies, Lithuania will defend its airspace."

Details: Vitkauskas later said that the drone shot down by NATO fighter jets had entered Lithuania from Belarus.

Quote from Vitkauskas: "Yes, from Belarus. Then Lentvaris, Trakai District Municipality – that is where the object was heading west."

Background:

Moldova's Air Operations Service recorded an unauthorised drone flight that briefly crossed the country's airspace near the village of Palanca.
Russian drones attacked border infrastructure along the border with Moldova on the night of 8-9 September. A Moldovan citizen was among those affected by the Russian strike.
