Kremlin reacts to Trump signing sanctions bill into law: "Unlikely to contribute to Ukrainian settlement"
Dmitry Peskov, press secretary for Russian leader Vladimir Putin, has said US President Donald Trump's signing of the Russia sanctions bill into law will not contribute to either "a revival of bilateral relations" or to a peaceful settlement of the Russia-Ukraine war.

Quote from Peskov: "Regarding the signing of this document, it certainly doesn't contribute to reviving our bilateral relations. And, of course, it's also unlikely to contribute to more successful progress towards a Ukrainian settlement."
Details: Peskov also claimed that sanctions have no significant effect on life in Russia.
Quote: "But overall... it's important not to forget here that more than 30,000 different sanctions have been imposed against Russia: market-related, corporate, sectoral, individual sanctions and so on. And of course Russia has largely adapted to these sanctions and found ways to mitigate their detrimental effect."

- On 19 September, US President Donald Trump signed the Russia sanctions bill co-authored by the late Senator Lindsey Graham.
- Prior to this, Peskov said Russia was monitoring the progress of the Graham bill, and that the signing of the bill would complicate efforts to reach a "peace settlement" in the war against Ukraine.
