Overnight Russian attack on Kyiv: explosions heard and fires break out

Air-raid warnings were issued in the city of Kyiv and several Ukrainian oblasts on the night of 28-29 September due to the threat of Russian ballistic missiles. Explosions have been heard in the capital and fires have broken out.

Details: Shortly after midnight, the Air Force warned of a threat of ballistic missiles being used.

Details: At 01:21, the Air Force reported "ballistic missiles heading towards Kyiv".

Explosions were heard in Kyiv.

Update: According to Kyiv City Military Administration, debris fell in an open area in the Solomianskyi district. Information about damage and casualties was being confirmed.

Early reports indicated that a fire had broken out in a non-residential building in the Pecherskyi district.

Quote from Klitschko at 01:57: "Missile debris has fallen in the courtyard of a building in the Solomianskyi district. There is no fire.

A fire has broken out in a three-storey non-residential building in the Pecherskyi district. A strike has hit an office building at an infrastructure facility in the Solomianskyi district. There is no fire."

Details: After 02:00, the missile threat in Kyiv changed to a drone threat.

Quote from Klitschko at 02:05: "A strike and a fire in one of the buildings of an educational institution in the Solomianskyi district have been recorded.

Emergency services are heading to the scene."

Update: At around 02:45, explosions were heard in Kyiv again while an air-raid warning was in effect due to a threat from Russian jet-powered drones.

At around 04:40, explosions were also heard in Kyiv amid the threat from Russian jet-powered drones.

After 05:00, Kyiv City Military Administration reported that a three-storey non-residential building had been damaged in the Pecherskyi district.

In addition, a fire broke out on the roof of a five-storey residential building in the Holosiivskyi district after debris fell onto it. Debris fell onto the grounds of a house in the Solomianskyi district.
