Polish PM warns of very difficult months ahead for Poland due to Russia's aggressive stance

Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk has warned of "very difficult weeks and months" ahead for Poland due to Russia's increasingly aggressive actions towards Ukraine.

Details: Tusk said at a government meeting on 29 September: "Very difficult weeks and months lie ahead of us, given Russia's increasingly aggressive stance towards Ukraine, and unfortunately, these aggressive actions by Russia towards Ukraine are coming increasingly close to our border."

Meanwhile, he said the government and the appropriate services are focused on ensuring that the threat does not spread to Polish territory and that "nothing bad happens on the Polish side".

Tusk also commented on an incident that occurred near the Dorohusk-Yahodyn border crossing between Poland and Ukraine on 28 September, when a Russian drone struck on the Ukrainian side near the Polish border.

"Every night or during the day, we are forced to repeatedly scramble our aircraft, as Russian attacks near the Polish border, specifically at border crossings and infrastructure near the border, have now become a permanent occurrence," the Polish prime minister said.

He added that the appropriate Polish services are on heightened alert due to the situation along the country's eastern border.
