Details: The targets engaged by the turrets include Banderol missiles and Geran-5 jet-powered drones. Notably, they destroyed "dozens" of Russian UAVs over Kyiv in the space of a month.
Brave1 noted that the development of robotic turrets began in 2024. According to the cluster, the technology has proven effective, and the turrets are used to counter aerial threats both on the front line and while protecting critical urban infrastructure.
"Nowadays, such systems are not just experimental technologies but an integral part of air defence," Brave1 stated.
Background:
- As of October 2026, about 100 Ukrainian companies have joined the private air defence project, including critical infrastructure operators and public and private sector businesses.
- Ukrainska Pravda previously reported that Ukraine is already using AI-powered robotic turrets to combat drones. The systems are operational and significantly improve engagement efficiency while reducing the number of personnel required to maintain them.
