Second ‘Saboteur’ Zakhtiy Detained for Two Months

During a closed session on Saturday, August 13, a District Court in Simferopol ruled to detain Andriy Zakhtiy, who is accused of attempting to perpetrate terror attacks in Crimea, for two months as a pretrial restrictive measure, a source in a law enforcement agency in Crimea told Interfax.

Advisor to the Ukrainian Minister of Internal Affairs MP Anton Herashchenko wrote on Facebook that Zakhtiy posted anti-Ukrainian rants on social networks during the Maidan protests and was a criminal with two previous jail terms. According to Herashchenko, even if he is an agent, then he is the agent of the FSB, not of Ukrainian secret services.

On August 11, the court ruled to detain Yevhen Panov, the first Ukrainian citizen to be recently accused of sabotage, for two months.
