Starting in April, the Russian invaders plan to put their currency, the ruble, into circulation within the territory of the temporarily occupied Kherson region.

Source: Kherson Regional Council Deputy, Serhiy Khlan, on Facebook

Khlan: "Starting in April, the occupiers plan to put rubles into circulation in the Kherson region.
Shops will be forced to accept rubles, while the salaries of the "new administration" will most likely be paid in rubles, too. I think salaries in rubles will follow in the existing public sector and utilities.
Gradually, the Kherson region is being dragged into the ruble zone.
The People's Republic of Kherson is getting closer, but we will send this ‘People's Republic of Kherson’ to follow the lead of the Russian warship."

Details: The deputy called on people to ignore settlements in rubles.

Background:
The city is currently occupied. The Russian occupiers wanted to hold a so-called "referendum" in the city on the establishment of a so-called "People's Republic of Kherson". However, local deputies at an emergency meeting of the regional council rejected the idea of creating a "People's Republic of Kherson".

Rallies in support of Ukraine are also held in the city almost every day. Kherson urges the Russian aggressors to leave the city and Ukraine.

Rallies against the Russian occupiers are held daily in Kherson. Hundreds of people gather there.

On 21 March, Russian occupiers threw grenades at pro-Ukrainian protesters in Freedom Square in Kherson, opening fire and injuring people.
