The State Financial Monitoring Service (SFMS) of Ukraine has sent to the International Anti-Money Laundering Group (which is part of the Financial Action Task Force, or FATF) new evidence regarding Russia’s terrorist acts and the use of weapons of mass destruction during the war.

Quote: "The State Financial Monitoring Service insists on decisive steps by relevant key international institutions in response to Russia’s flagrant violations of the fundamental principles and norms of international law."

Details: In addition to previous letters, on 4 March the SFMS sent new evidence to the FATF and EGMONT GROUP regarding the exclusion of the Russian Federation from these organisations and the inclusion of Russia in the relevant FATF sanctions list.

Ukraine explains that this appeal is in response to Russia’s further escalation of the war, the use of weapons of mass destruction during the invasion, and the ongoing execution of terrorist acts.

It is also noted that the armed seizure of Europe’s largest nuclear power plant, the Zaporizhzhya power plant –which is 10 times more powerful than the Chernobyl power plant– was a clear example of nuclear terrorism.

Background: The State Financial Monitoring Service of Ukraine has initiated Russia’s inclusion in the sanctions list of countries that promote terrorism and the proliferation of weapons of mass destruction.
