Irpin’, Bucha, and Vorzel are seized, aggressors starving the people

SVITLANA KIZILOVA — TUESDAY, 8 MARCH 2022, 14:13

Former mayor of Irpin, local developer Volodymyr Karplyuk, spoke about the horrors committed by the aggressors in Vorzel, Bucha, Gostomel, Zabuchia and Mykhailivka-Rubezhivka. In these towns there are mostly no communications with the outside world, food and water have run out and there is no electricity and heating.

Quote: "I, Volodymyr Karplyuk, the mayor of Irpen of the Kiev region in 2014-2018.

Today, I reach out to the entire international community to end the severe humanitarian crisis near the Ukrainian capital city. In Irpin and its neighbouring towns and villages there is a humanitarian catastrophe.

Vorzel, Bucha, Gostomel, Zabuchia and Mykhailivka-Rubezhivka are completely occupied by Russian troops who are not allowing locals to leave their homes. From time to time, people's homes are shelled by the aggressor with various weapons.

Irpin, Bucha, Gostomel, Vorzel, Mykhailivka-Rubezhivka and Zabuchia are already the epicentre of the humanitarian catastrophe.

A safe ‘green’ corridor is urgently needed to reach Irpin and further evacuate the residents of Irpin, Bucha, Gostomel, Vorzel, Mykhailivka-Rubezhivka, and Zabuchia  through Kyiv.

Otherwise, losses will be not only from the shelling. The aggressors are not allowing humanitarian aid to reach these settlements!

The aggressors are forming a line in preparation for further attacks on the capital on the border of Gostomel-Bucha-Irpin-Gorenichi. Locals are starving and suffering from the cold in basements while Russian troops hold them hostage. I call on the entire international community to make efforts to save the civilian population of Irpin from death. "

Details: He said that fighting was taking place in Irpin, and that civilians were being evacuated by bus across the bridge near Romanivka towards the capital. Russian troops have bombed the Irpin Town Polyclinic and the new medical center, and medical personnel and some medical equipment have been evacuated. The aggressors have seized some of the medicines and the humanitarian aid that was brought in earlier.

The aggressors have threatened to kill the mayor of Irpin and have demanded that he surrender the town to them, but he has refused.

There is no mobile communication, electric light, or water supply in any of the settlements listed above.  The gas supply has been cut off due to fires in many neighbourhoods.

On March 7, the Fiberglass Institute was blown up in Bucha. Acetone vapours and other chemicals rose into the sky as black smoke drifted towards Irpin and Mykhailivka-Rubezhivka.

Since March 8, corpses have been lying in basements and on the streets of Priirpinne. The aggressors have not even allowed the Red Cross to take away the bodies, and humanitarian aid vehicles have been shelled.

Residents of these settlements who have managed, by a miracle, to get out of there in recent days, literally under enemy fire, confirmed to the Ukrayinska Pravda the information published by Karplyuk.

According to one of the interlocutors, so-called Kadyrovites in Bucha are shooting people at close range, and they have set up their "headquarters" in a kindergarten.
