Ukrainian Armed Forces repel Russian assault on Berestove, Donetsk Oblast – General Staff report

Ukrainian troops successfully repelled a Russian assault on the outskirts of the village of Berestove in the Bakhmut district of Donetsk Oblast. Meanwhile, Russian occupying forces continued to reinforce their air defence systems in the temporarily occupied territories of Kherson Oblast.

Details: On the Sloviansk front, Russian efforts are focused on gathering forces and resources in order to resume the offensive on the city of Sloviansk. Russian forces fired on the positions of Ukrainian troops and conducted aerial reconnaissance using Orlan-10 UAVs.

On the Sievierodonetsk front, Russian forces are using Orlan-10 UAVs to conduct round-the-clock aerial reconnaissance. In addition, they are continuing to conduct assault operations in order to establish full control over the city of Sievierodonetsk. Fighting continues there without much success on the part of the Russians.

Russian troops intensified artillery fire on the positions of Ukrainian troops on the Avdiivka front.

On the Kharkiv front, Russian forces exerted intense fire on the positions of Ukrainian troops from artillery, including rocket artillery. They conducted a reconnaissance-in-force operation near Rubizhne, but were not successful.

On the Pivdennyi Buh front, Russian occupying forces fired on peaceful towns and villages: Lyman, Lupareve, Nova Zoria, Tavriiske, Novohryhorivka, Bilousove, Kniazivka, Topolyne, Velyka Kostromka, and Osokorivka. Russian troops are performing combat engineering tasks in order to reinforce their primary and secondary lines of defence.

In addition, Russian occupiers continue to reinforce their air defence systems in the temporarily occupied territories of Kherson Oblast.

On the Volyn and Polissia fronts, units of the Belarusian Armed Forces are covering the Belarusian-Ukrainian border, reinforcing defence fortifications in Gomel Oblast of Belarus, and conducting electronic reconnaissance operations. 

On the Sivershchyna front, units of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation continued to perform combat engineering tasks to reinforce their positions in Kursk Oblast (Russia), near the border with Ukraine. The Ukrainian General Staff notes that Russia is reinforcing its air defence systems in Bryansk Oblast [in Russia; Bryansk Oblast shares a border with Ukraine - ed.].
