Luhansk Oblast: Russia hits Azot chemical plant, ramps up attack on Lysychansk

Russian forces have once again hit the buildings and entry checkpoint at the Azov chemical plant in Sievierodonetsk and fired on the city’s brick factory, and fierce fighting continues in the city’s industrial district.

Details: Currently 568 civilians are sheltering at the Azot chemical plant, including 38 children. For the most part, these are the plant staff and their families who had refused to evacuate.

Haidai also reported that doctors are still working in one of Sievierodonetsk’s hospitals.

Russian forces conducted assault operations near Komyshuvakha, Zolote and Hirske, approaching from several directions, and ramped up the shelling of Lysychansk. The number of casualties and fatalities is being established. Haidai noted that the car of the head of the Lysychansk Military Administration, who was on his way to inspect the most affected areas of Lysychansk, came under fire.

Russian forces also opened fire on the three bridges in Sievierodonetsk.

Russian aircraft conducted airstrikes on Ustynivka, Maloriazantseve, Bilohorivka, and Hirske. Fighting near Mykolaivka continues.

More than 10 multi-storey apartment buildings, private houses, and a police department building were damaged or destroyed as a result of Russian shelling. One person has been found dead so far. A woman who sustained injuries was evacuated and hospitalised in Kramatorsk.

Hirske has sustained severe destruction: 13 houses were damaged there. In addition, seven houses were damaged in Novoivanivka and a secondary school was destroyed in Vrubivka.

Russian assault operations near Bila Hora and Syrotyne have so far been unsuccessful.
