15 oblasts have been partially left without electricity due to the Russian strikes on October 10.

Quote from the Service: "As a result of the shelling on 10 October, critical infrastructure facilities have been hit in 12 oblasts and in the city of Kyiv; more than 30 fires broke out [in the capital city].

15 oblasts have been left partially without electricity (Lviv, Ivano-Frankivsk, Chernivtsi, Khmelnytskyi, Zhytomyr, Vinnytsia, Kyiv, Kirovohrad, Mykolaiv, Dnipropetrovsk, Zaporizhzhia Poltava, Kharkiv, Sumy and Ternopil oblasts) and the city of Kyiv."

Details: More than 1,000 people and about 120 pieces of equipment were involved in firefighting and emergency rescue operations.

The State Emergency Service of Ukraine has added that 11 people have been killed and 89 people have been injured as a result of Russian missile strikes.

70 facilities are known to have been damaged, including 35 private residential buildings.

Previously: Kyiv City Council have reported that in Kyiv and the Oblast they will introduce rolling emergency power cuts of emergency power cuts to consumers because the Russian invaders had damaged the critical infrastructure of the capital and the Oblast.

Denys Shmyhal, the Prime Minister of Ukraine, has announced that rolling emergency power cuts have been introduced in Kyiv, Chernihiv, Cherkasy and Zhytomyr oblasts.

Background: 

  • Several explosions rang out in the centre of Kyiv on the morning of 10 October, causing casualties and fatalities. Subway traffic on the red line has been suspended.
  • Explosions also thundered in several other Ukrainian cities: Dnipro, Khmelnytskyi, Zhytomyr and Lviv.
  • Air-raid alarms sounded across all of Ukraine on the morning of 10 October. Russian forces carried out missile strikes on several cities in several Ukrainian oblasts.
  • Valerii Zaluzhnyi, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, reported that Russia had launched 83 missiles on Ukraine within a few hours on the morning of 10 October, 41 of which were shot down by Ukrainian air defence.
  • Aleksandr Lukashenko, the self-proclaimed President of Belarus, announced that Russia and Belarus had agreed to deploy a joint regional force.
  • Operational Command Pivnich (North) reported that there have been no breakthroughs of the Ukrainian state border; Russia and Belarus have undertaken no offensive actions in northern Ukraine.
