No breakthrough of state border or offensive in Ukraine’s North

There have been no breakthroughs of the state border or any offensive actions by Russia or Belarus in Ukraine’s North, the Operational Command Pivnich (North) reports.

Quote from Chaus: "As of now, the section of the state border of Ukraine on the territory of Chernihiv Oblast is under control. There are many calls and reports about "fierce fighting". Do not spread panic. If someone enters [our territory], we will meet them with dignity."

Details: Operational Command Pivnich stresses that the Defence Forces continue to fulfil their duties and are ready for any scenario.

In the border region, the situation is also under the full control of the State Border Guard of Ukraine, the Armed Forces of Ukraine, and the National Guard of Ukraine; there have been no changes.

At the same time, Ukrainian defenders call on the residents of Oblast to stay in shelters, because the threat has not yet passed.

Background:

  • Several explosions rang out in the centre of Kyiv on the morning of 10 October, causing casualties and fatalities. Subway traffic on the red line has been suspended.
  • Explosions thundered in several other Ukrainian cities: Dnipro, Khmelnytskyi, Zhytomyr and Lviv.
  • An air-raid siren has been on throughout Ukraine since the morning of 10 October. The Russians struck a number of cities in many oblasts.
  • Valerii Zaluzhnyi, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, reported that so far, on 10 October, the Russian aggressor has launched 75 missiles on Ukraine within a few hours, 41 of which were shot down by air defence.
  • The self-proclaimed president of Belarus, Aleksandr Lukashenko, said that Russia and Belarus agreed on the deployment of a joint regional force.
